Chocolate Bar Palette Tutorial

Eye Tutorial Using The Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette

I've been loving the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette again, but I've been struggling with one shade in particular - Candied Violet. I don't know if it's this way in everybody's palette, but in mine, it's super dry and unpigmented. It's never bugged me before because I never used the shade but as I've used the palette more, I've been wanting to get use out of every shade, and it's been really difficult to work with Candied Violet. That is, until I tried using it wet. I do find that I have to re-wet it several times because of how quickly it dries out again, but it looks super pretty all over the lid so it's worth it.

I used an e.l.f. Blending Brush to put the shade Milk Chocolate in and above the crease lightly as a transition shade.

Next I used an e.l.f. Crease Brush and put the shade Semi-Sweet into my crease, blending it out with a fluffy blending brush from a Sephora gift set.

After that I used a Kleancolor Eyeshadow Brush to pack the shade Candied Violet, used wet, all over the lid. I also blended it up into the crease using the same blending brush.

Next I used an angled shadow brush from a Sephora gift set to place the shade Cherry Cordial in my outer v, blending it with the same fluffy blending brush.

Using the same angled brush, I used Cherry Cordial on my lower lashline, also blending it out with the same fluffy blending brush.

Add the shade Champagne Truffle (used wet) to the inner corner (I used a brush from a Hautelook and Morphe exclusive set) and the shadow is done!

I added some really dramatic liner and voluminous mascara to finish off the look, but you can do whatever you like. This look would look great with some super dramatic false lashes.

I paired this eye look with MAC's Twig, which has a satin finish. A matte finish would also look good with this eye look. A glossy finish would work as well, but I personally prefer a matte or satin finish with this particular look. A red might distract from the eye look, but if that's what you want then go for it! I personally prefer a nude or more neutral color for this, though.

Chocolate Bar Look

Eye Look Using The Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette

I've been falling back in love with the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette lately, so I wanted to do a look using it. I've done many looks on this blog using this palette, but I wanted to do one more before really exploring other palettes.

Use the shade Milk Chocolate as a transition shade. I blended it out so that it was very light rather than fully pigmented.

Put the shade Semi-Sweet in the crease. I blended this out as well as I could for a smoother transition between shades.

After that, use the shade Amaretto all over the lid and blend it into the crease. I've never really played around with this shade before and I'm glad I finally did because it's actually really pretty.

Next, use the shade Cherry Cordial in the outer v and blend it onto the outer half of the lid and into the crease a bit. All the blending will make it look more put together and seamless.

Get the shade Candied Violet on your brush and apply it onto the lower lashline. This adds a subtle pop of color that still goes with the look.

Use the shade Marzipan as an inner corner and browbone highlight. I like to use a shimmery shade for this most of the time because I prefer how it looks compared to a matte shade, and I often use this one because I think it looks extra nice.

Cleaning up the edge of the shadow is optional, but I prefer how winged liner looks with a harsh edge rater than a blended one, so I chose to do that. Add liner and mascara and you're done!

Chocolate Bar Palette Look

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette Eye Look

Use the shade Salter Caramel in the crease, bot bothering to blend it out yet.

Apply a white cream base to the entire lid. I used the LA Colors Jumbo Eye Pencil in Sea Shells.

Put the shade Strawberry Bon Bon on the lid, all over the white base and blended slightly into the crease.

Use the shade White Chocolate as a browbone and inner corner highlight.

Blend everything together until there are no harsh lines.

Apply liner and mascara, trying not to get mascara all over your eyelid like I did.

I paired this eye look with the Wet' n' Wild MegaLast Lipstick in Just Peachy. I wanted this to be a simple, natural look, so I thought that pairing it with a nude lip would look nice.

Melted French Kisses Swatches

Too Faced Melted French Kisses Holiday Set Swatches and First Impression

I was really lucky and received this set for Christmas this year, and I wanted to feature it here and tell you my thoughts on it. I love the packaging - I used to be absolutely obsessed with Paris, and I want to go there someday. This set costs $25.00 USD, which I think is worth it. You get four deluxe-sized samples of Too Faced's Melted Liqufied Lipsticks, two normal and two metallic. You get the shades Melted Metallic Peony, Melted Chihuahua, Melted Metallic Macaron, and Melted Berry. The metallic shades are a lot more sheer than the normal shades, but they still have a decent color payoff. My first impression is that these are great lipsticks, but I have to wear them some more to be sure.

This is Melted Metallic Peony. You can still see a bit of my natural lip color peeking through, but it's a very pretty color. It has a ton of shimmer in it, but it's not gritty or unpleasant.

Here is my favorite of the set - Melted Chihuahua. It's a nice brown nude that I think would look good on almost any skin color. This one has no shimmer whatsoever.

This is Melted Metallic Macaron. It takes a couple of layers to get it this opaque, but it's pretty color either way. The finish is very shiny, but I can't tell if it's just shiny or if it has tiny shimmers.

The last color is Melted Berry, and the color is just that - a berry color. I'm not a huge fan of darker colors as I don't think they look very good on my super pale skin, but I do still like this color.

Naked Smoky Tutorial

Urban Decay Naked Smoky Eyeshadow Palette Tutorial

I wanted to try out my new Naked Smoky palette, so I decided to do an eye look tutorial using only shadows from that palette. I think it turned out pretty well, so I'm posting it here.

Apply the shade Whiskey all over your crease, not worrying too much about blending yet. We'll get to that in a bit.

Apply the shade Armor all over the lid, blending it slightly up into the crease.

Put the shade Dagger in the outer v of the eye and blend it partially into the crease.

Apply the shade High to the inner corner and lower lashline, blending it to the inner third of the eyelid as well.

Blend everything out to make the look softer and less harsh. I also used a makeup wipe to clean up below and next to my eye, as well as make the shadow into a harsh line extending from my outer corner.

Apply liner, curl your lashes, apply some mascara, and you're done! A super easy yet pretty smoky eye.

Here is the finished eye look, paired with Too Faced's Melted Chihuahua. I think this eye look would go well with most lip colors, but I thought that a nude would keep more attention on the eyes.

Eye Makeup Tutorial

Subtle Shimmer Cut Crease Tutorial

I was going to a party and decided I wanted to do a cut crease with subtle shimmer and a dark lip. I used shadows from the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette only. Best of all, it only involves two shadows, so it's super easy for beginners!

Step One

Apply the shade "Milk Chocolate" all over the crease.

Step Two

Pack the shade "Champagne Truffle" onto the lid. It's a soft purple-pink with a subtle shimmer.

Step Three

Blend everything very well to soften the look and eliminate any harsh lines.

Step Four

Apply NYC's liquid eyeliner in black, and try to do better than I did. I am not an expert yet.

Step Five

Curl the upper lashes and apply Covergirl's Super Sizer mascara to both the upper and lower lashes. This is only the second time I've used this mascara but I'm quickly falling in love with it.

Optional - Lip Stain, Primer, Setting Spray

I used e.l.f.'s lip stain in "Nude Nectar" on my lips. It took a few coats to get the color payoff I wanted, but It looks gorgeous and it won't budge when I eat or drink. Another optional thing you can do before starting this look is use an eye primer, which I did, as well as use a setting spray all over my face because I'm going to be out for a while without much chance to do touch ups.

Makeup Tutorial

Neutral Eye Makeup With Sparkle Tutorial

Welcome to my first-ever eye makeup tutorial! I decided I wanted to do a nice neutral eye with some sparkle and a red lip, so I created this using only shadows from the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette.

Step One

Apply the shade "Salted Caramel" to the crease. Make sure to get it all across the crease and blend it well.

Step Two

Pack the shade "Marzipan" onto the lid. It gives a very nice shimmer.

Step Three

Apply "Champagne Truffle" to the inner corner and brow bone.

Step Four

Apply "Creme Brulee" to the outer corner of the lid. This adds both dimension and more shimmer.

Step Five

Blend, blend, blend! This softens the look and gets rid of any harsh lines.

Step Six

Add winged liner using NYC's liquid eyeliner in black. Mine isn't perfect, but I figured that the more I tried to fix it, the worse it would end up.

Step Seven

Curl your lashes and apply Covergirl's Super Sizer mascara to both top and bottom lashes. Curling is optional, but I prefer how it looks

Optional: A Red Lip

If you want to, you can apply e.l.f.'s lip stain in Hot Tamale to complete the look.

If you want to, you can apply an eye shadow primer at the beginning as well. This will help the look last longer and not crease as quickly.

Chocolate Bar Palette Review

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette Review

I received the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette as a Christmas gift and immediately fell in love with it. It literally SMELLS LIKE CHOCOLATE, guys! It was my very first high end palette, and one of my first high end products.

The packaging is fantastic. It looks like a giant chocolate bar! It's made from a hard, sturdy-feeling plastic. It also comes with a little booklet thingy of eye shadow look ideas!

Inside the palette is a plastic insert with the names of the shadows that I have somehow managed to not lose. I wish that it had the names printed on the packaging, like the Semi-Sweet palette does, but it's not a huge inconvenience once you get used to it.

Now we get to the good stuff - the shadows! There's 16 in total, two big highlight shades (I even use the shimmery one as a cheekbone highlight) and 14 slightly smaller than average ones. First is Gilded Ganache, a dark brown shimmer with a slight greenish tinge. Next is white chocolate, a matte cream color. After that is Milk Chocolate, a matte light brown. Next up is Black Forest Truffle, a shimmery dark brown. After that we have Triple Fudge, a dark brown matte. Next we have my favorite crease shade, Salted Caramel, a light reddish-brown. After that is Marzipan, a shimmery rose gold. Then is Semi-Sweet, a matte medium brown. Next is Strawberry Bon-Bon, a matte light pink which is not very pigmented, especially compared to the other shades, which are all highly pigmented. After that is Candied Violet, a dark purple shimmer. Then is Amaretto, a shimmery medium brown. Next is Hazelnut, a shimmery medium brown. After that is my personal favorite, Creme Brulee, a shimmery gold. Next up is Haute Chocolate, a shimmery medium brown. Then we have Cherry Cordial, a dark matte red-brown. Lastly is Champagne Truffle, a shimmery light purple-pink.

All of the shadows except for Strawberry Bon-Bon are quite pigmented, at least on my skin tone - I expect that it would show up better if I had darker skin. Otherwise, even White Chocolate shows up pretty well, although not *quite* as well as the darker colors, since it's honestly pretty close to my skin tone. There is little to no fallout, depending on what brush you use. I plan to do a few tutorials with this palette soon, so look out for those! You can purchase the palette here for $49.00 USD, which I think is a good price for the quality you get.
