e.l.f. Lip Stains

e.l.f. Lip Stains Lip Swatches and Review

During the e.l.f. moving sale, I managed to get all four colors of their Studio Lip Stains for a dollar each. They're usually $3.00 USD, which isn't a bad price, but if you can get them for cheaper then definitely do. In this picture I have them in the order (from left to right) of Heartbreaker, Fashionista, Birthday Suit, and Red Carpet. The colored side dries to a matte looking finish, but it isn't totally transfer-proof so that means it isn't super drying. You can layer the gloss on top for a glossy finish, but I find that when you do that it makes the color underneath separate and go patchy if you aren't careful. My recommendation is to use just the colored side and go for a matte look. It's pretty long lasting and it layers well so it won't go all weird like some liquid lipsticks do when you try to touch up. I will mention that they have a bit of an odd smell so if that bugs you, you may want to steer clear of these.

This is Heartbreaker on my lips, without gloss on the top and with gloss on the bottom. It's a bit sheer so you may want to layer it a couple of times if you're going for a more opaque look. I find that the best way to apply the gloss is to dab rather than swipe, otherwise it will disturb the color.

Here is Fashionista on my lips, matte on the top and glossy on the bottom. This color seemed to be a bit crumbly on the inner part of my lips for some reason, but none of the other colors did that.

This is Birthday Suit. This one is the sheerest and needs the most building up. It's also the most easily disturbed by the gloss.

Red Carpet s my favorite shade because it's the least sheer and the gloss doesn't disturb it as easily. It's a very pretty red as well. If I had to choose one shade to keep it would definitely be this one.

Overall, I think these are decent lip products and if you're just getting into makeup and don't want to spend a lot of money then they might be for you. But if you already have lots of lip products that you love, this probably won't be anything special. None of the colors are especially unique, and the formula isn't all that great in my opinion, although it certainly isn't terrible either. Is it worth $3.00? Yes, and definitely worth the $1.00 each that I paid. But I don't see myself wearing them very often.

E.l.f. Haul

e.l.f. Moving Sale Haul

The brand e.l.f. is fantastic because everything is inexpensive and the majority of it is pretty good or at least decent quality. When I got an email about their moving sale, I got super excited, because the sale meant that tons of their products were marked down to $1.00 USD because they were moving to a new warehouse. I decided I had to take advantage of the sale and made an order. One of the things I ordered (a nail polish) didn't come but they sent me an email warning me and refunded me. Another thing was missing from my order, but I also received an item I hadn't ordered so I think that was meant to replace the item that wasn't sent. Usually this would bug me but this particular time it didn't because what I wasn't sent was a pack of their lotion wipes and what I was sent instead was a 10-eyeshadow palette that I've really been wanting to try out, and after swatching it I really like it. I also found a code online and when I entered it on the website, I got a free 83-piece Essential Makeup Collection, which you can currently buy on their website for $20.00.

This is the front of the free 83-piece Essential Makeup Collection. I will probably be doing a full review and possibly swatches of this so I didn't include pictures of the inside. I swatched some of the eyeshadows, blushes, and bronzers and they're all really pigmented. The lip colors are pretty sheer, but still workable. It even comes with some little brushes, which are actually quite soft.

There were only four colors of the Lip Stains that I could see at the time I ordered, so I got all of them because I liked them all, they were only a dollar each, and I wanted to do a lip swatch post. Apparently the colored part dried down to a matte finish, and then you can top it with the gloss if you want to.

I've totally run out of my NYX translucent powder, so I decided it was time to pick up another one. I liked the NYX one and would have repurchased it but as a blogger it's always good to be trying out new products so that I can review them.

Swatching this, it seems pretty sheer, and I imagine it would be even more sheer with a brush, but I got it for a dollar so I'm not too mad. I'm sure I'll find a use for it or pass it along to someone who can if it doesn't work out as a bronzer for me.

I got this thinking it was a few shades lighter than it actually is, so I'm not sure it'll actually end up working as a highlight on my skin. My skin is very light so I don't tend to go for bronzey highlights since I don't think they'd suit me. I'll play around with this and see if I can make it work somehow but if not then I'll pass it along to a friend with darker skin.

Due to my obsession with it, apparently I have to order lip balm everytime I order makeup. This isn't even all of them. I can at least justify these ones by saying they have SPF and the sun's coming out more lately so I need the sun protection, but really that's a weak excuse because I already have plenty of lip balm with SPF in it.

I didn't own any glitter liners and I felt like it was time I got some. I'm not expecting them to be super pigmented, I just want glitter, because glitter is just about my favorite thing.

I'm pretty sure I ordered a different color of this blush, but I can still work with this, and I don't own any colors like this so it'll be fun to experiment with.

I got the Conditioning Lip Balm in the shade Peaceful Pink because it seemed like the most wearable shade and I wanted to try it out. You seem to get a ton of product and it has conditioning in the title which makes me feel like it would be super moisturizing, and that's very exciting to me because oh my god lip balm.

Then I got another lip balm, this one in the shade Pink Princess. I already had this in the shades Grapefruit (despite my ongoing conflict with grapefruits) and Nude, and I like them so I wanted to try out another color. I originally got my first one wanted to compare it to the Nivea lip butters, which it turns out they're nothing like, but they're still pretty good.

I got a Shimmering Facial Whip in Pink Lemonade because I've been super into highlighting lately and this seemed like a cool concept. I found that you need the absolute tiniest amount, so this should last me forever.

Like I said, I've been super into highlighting lately, so I got an All Over Color Stick in Spotlight. It gives more of a subtle sheen than an intense glow like the Facial Whip, but I can still see myself using it.

I got a nail polish in Jazzy Berry because I don't have many colors like this and I think I'll wear it a lot come fall. I'll probably also wear it a lot in the spring and summer because i don't pay too much attention to seasonal colors but I'll especially like it in the fall.

I got two Flawless Eyeshadow quads, one in Sea Escape and one in Party Purple. These were the only two on sale at the time I ordered but I do know that they sell more colors. I like e.l.f. shadows most of the time even though they're not super long wearing because they tend to be quite pigmented and blendable.

People have said some great things about this glitter primer, so I decided to finally pick it up. I don't have any glitter, but i do have some pressed pigments that give me a lot of fallout that I hope this will help with.

Let me tell you, you don't even need a full pump of this HD Blush for both cheeks. I pumped an entire pump onto the back of my hand and it pretty much covered the entire back of my hand without looking sheer. So be careful with this because it's super pigmented.

I have pretty good skin, but when the occasional stubborn pimple pops up, I always wish I had something like this, so I got one. It was on sale for a dollar and I've wanted it but it's usually sold out so this time I figured, why not?

I needed this brush because I don't actually have a brush to apply bronzer with and when I got the bronzer I figured it was a good time to pick up a brush as well. I have many e.l.f. brushes and they do tend to fall apart faster than other brushes (usually after 3-5 months of regular washing and use) but I still think they're worth the money.

This is the palette I received instead of the lotion wipes, and I must say that after swatching it I like it quite a lot. I think it's meant to be like the Urban Decay Naked 3, which I don't own, but I do have the Iconic 3 from Makeup Revolution which is supposed to be a dupe. Most of the colors are quite pigmented and all of them are really buttery and soft.

ShopMissA Haul

Huge ShopMissA Haul!

I've been hearing about http://www.shopmissa.com/ for a while now, and I finally decided to make an order. Literally everything other than about 4-7 charm bracelets and necklaces is a dollar USD! I was of course drawn to the makeup, but I did purchase a few accessories and miscellaneous items that I'll show first to get out of the way. Everything but one item came totally undamaged, and that one item was easily fixable. The packaging was great too - many things came individually wrapped.

Here are the accessories I purchased. I got a bracelet with a rose, a necklace with a bow, a chain necklace, an adjustable turtle ring, and a set of five golden bangles. All of it seems to be of decent quality, think Forever 21 quality, but it's probably made of the metal that turns your skin green, which is fine with me because it was all so cheap.

Next I got an eye shadow brush from Princessa to try out. I don't have nearly enough eye shadow brushes so I'm always looking to add to my collection.

I also got some cute little green frog sticky notes. You can never have too many sticky notes, and these ones are almost too cute to justify using.

I got a couple containers of nail polish remover pads to have around, one from Kleancolor and one from L.A. Colors. Each have 32 pads, so if they end up working, they'll last me quite a while. Plus, both of them are acetone free!

The last non-makeup things I got were a few face masks from Beauty Treats. I love using face masks and for a dollar, I couldn't pass these up. I'll let you know how they worked and if they break me out in a future post.

Finally, on to the makeup! I got three e.l.f. Essential Lipsticks in Flirtatious, Sociable, and Fearless. I've heard a lot about these, both good things and bad, so I figured I should try them out for myself to see if I like them.

Next up are some Kleancolor Kleanista lipsticks in the colors Sky Dive, Lightning Struck, and Envious Desire. From what I've heard, they're pigmented but not long-lasting, but I'll post my own review once I've tried them out myself.

Here we have a cute little Santee Color Revolution Lipstick in color number four. The green writing makes the packaging look a bit cheap, but it's a dollar, so really it is cheap. Otherwise the packaging is very cute, which is the main reason I got it. I don't usually get things just because they're cute, but for a dollar, I can afford to.

Next I got three IT Girl Lip Glosses in the shades 2, 4, and 6. I'll review them in a new post when I get the chance to try them out. They all look very pretty.

I also got three Hydrate & Moisturize Lip Balms in the flavors strawberry, watermelon, and cherry. I don't know if they'll actually be hydrating and moisturizing, but I figured they're worth a try.

Next is a Beauty Treats Velvet Matte Lipstick in color 2, which is an orange. It's currently out of stock on ShopMissA, but it should be back in stock any time.

This is the Amuse Precise Black Liquid Eyeliner. The product says waterproof, which the website does not, but that's fine with me. For a dollar, I wasn't expecting much, but it's actually quite pigmented.

Now we have some lipliners. I got three Kleancolor ones, and the middle one is retractable! The middle one is also labeled as an eyeliner on the website, but I plan to use it as a lipliner.

These are the L.A. Colors Jumbo Pencils in Iridescent Light and Sea Shells. I thought that these would make good eye bases for more colorful looks.

Moving onto eye shadows, this is the High Intensity 4 Eyeshadow Palette by Rich On in the color 3. I wanted the color 4, but it was out of stock. It smelled a bit odd when I opened it, but I think it's the plastic, not the shadows. The pigmentation is okay.

Next up is the Amuse Pressed Eyeshadow Pigment in Black Night. Honestly, the color payoff isn't great, but I needed a black eye shadow, and this was a dollar. But for a dollar, I don't expect a whole lot.

After that I got the Kleancolor Utopia Baked Eyeshadow in Game. It doesn't have great pigmentation either, but it's still workable, and it's pretty to look at.

Then are all four of the Magic Finish Luminzing Eyeshadows that ShopMissA offered. The two on the right look like good highlight shades, and the pigmentation is great, especially for just a dollar.

Next are three of the Kleancolor Ms. Chick blushes in the colors Petal, Apricot, and Sunbaked. The pigmentation is fantastic, but they're a bit powdery.

This was the object that came a bit damaged - the eyelash comb had come off of the mascara tube. Luckily, it snapped right back on. This is the Santee Waterproof Mascara with Comb. I mostly got it for the comb, as I rarely use waterproof mascara, and because it's cute.

Next up are six pairs of false lashes, four from Kara and two from Kleancolor. The Kleancolor ones are way longer than I expected, but I'll probably still wear them at some point.

Lastly, I got a Kara clear eyelash glue. It's smaller than I expected, but that's my fault for not doing better research.

That's all! Let me know which things I should review first!

Lip Stain Review

e.l.f. Essential Lip Stain Review

You may have seen my Walmart Haul post a bit back and seen the e.l.f. lips stains I purchased to review. Well, here's the review! I have three shades to show you. You can buy them here for $2.00 USD and they come in six shades.

The three shades I got were (from left to right) are Hot Tamale, Pink Petal, and Nude Nectar.

Here they are swatched on my hand. The left is Pink Petal, the middle is Hot Tamale, and the right is Nude Nectar. As you can see, they aren't super pigmented. It took a few passes to get them as opaque as they are in the lip swatches coming up next. However, they take a long time to wear off - at least four hours, even if you eat and drink.

Here's Pink Petal on my lips. It's a nice color, kind of a rosy pink.

This is Hot Tamale. It's a very pretty hot, warm red. It's my favorite of the three.

Last but not least, we have Nude Nectar. It's really more of a dark brown-red than a true nude, but I still like it. I wore it for about six-eight hours without re-applying and both ate and drank during that time. It faded, but it didn't wear off patchy or weird.

Overall, these are totally worth the two dollars. They aren't the absolute best lip stains I've ever tried, but they're fantastic for such a cheap price!
