Nail Polish Declutter

The First Nail Polish Declutter 2016

I was looking at my makeup and nail polish and realized that while I do use a lot of it, there's still plenty I don't use that I could give to someone who would use it more or throw out because it's old. Most of the things I decluttered fall into the "throw out" category, including all of the nail polishes. I've been painting my nails more often, but there's still no need for most of the nail polishes I have, so I decided to toss every single polish that was too old for me to feel comfortable using. Although this leaves me with absolutely no red nail polish, I can easily get more and I honestly rarely ever wear red nails. I decide to post here what I decluttered, and a part two with makeup is coming soon.

Not only were all of these super old, I also never wear pearly or sparkley whites, or pearly or sparkley colors in general, so it was time for them to go.

I never really wear bright pinks either, so I had no problem getting rid of those. These are also all super old.

The rainbow nail polishes were a cute idea, but they never worked on me, so I was generally pretty angry at any rainbow polishes I saw as a kid because if something doesn't work for me then it shouldn't exist because I am the center of the universe, apparently. I also never wear sparkles on my nails so those had to go. Not to mention that some of these are over five years old.

Does anybody else remember the Crackle nail polish? Because I do, and I wish it was still around. If the one you got worked, it looked SO COOL! If you aren't familiar with them, you would put a coat of the Crackle polish over your normal polish and it would create a cool cracked effect. Sometimes they wouldn't work, though, and they only worked if you put them over nail polish and not over your bare nail which used to really tick me off because I was impatient and didn't want to wait for the normal polish AND the Crackle polish to dry.

Man, nail art pens were so cool back when I was, like, ten. They're still pretty cool but I had less patience back then and these seemed to dry fasted than normal polish so I loved them. I was also super new to nail art and the idea of something that made it easier for beginners was fantastic to me.

My Favorite Nail Polish

My Favorite Nail Polish (Review)

My absolute favorite nail polishes are the LA Colors Color Craze nail polishes. They last about two or three days on my nails without noticeable chipping, which is actually really good for me because I'm lucky if nail polish lasts one day on my nails. My favorite colors are (from left to right) So Famous, Ballet Slipper, and Desert Dune. So Famous takes two or three coats to be opaque, Ballet Slipper takes four, and Desert Dune takes one or two. I'm currently trying to use up Ballet Slipper in attempt to slim down my nail polish collection, but I think I'll probably repurchase it when I run out because I absolutely love it. I always use a base coat and a top coat with every polish I use to protect my nails from getting stained and to make them last longer, and I've found that without either of those, these polishes don't last very well. With a top and base coat, however, they last longer than most polishes do on me. They take a while to dry since they aren't fast drying, but they don't take any longer than the majority of other normal polishes. I have found that the lighter colors take a ton of coats to show up opaque and without streaks (four or more coats) but darker colors only take three maximum, which isn't too bad, especially since I tend to paint on very thin coats. They have a thicker consistency, so if you prefer thinner formulas then these probably aren't for you. The best part about these polishes is that they only cost a dollar! They may not be as good as an Essie nail polish, but you can buy eight of these for the price of one of the Essie ones, so I think it's totally worth it.

Haul!

Rite Aid Haul

I was bored today, so I decided to head to Rite Aid to see what kind of sales were on. Lucky me, there was 40% off Wet' n' Wild products if you have a Plenti card, which I do! I've been obsessed with lip balm lately, so I also picked up some new lip balms I've wanted to try out. A few lip balms were on sale if you have a Plenti card as well!

I didn't have any colors like these, so I picked up a couple of Wet' n' Wild nail polishes in the colors Wet Cement (left) and Private Viewing (right). I've been noticing that despite my giant nail polish collection, I'm lacking nice neutrals like these, and these were only $1.19 USD each because of the sale.

I already have five Wet' n' Wild MegaLast lipsticks, but I didn't have these two yet. Bare It All is on the left, and Red Velvet is on the right. I don't tend to look good with nude shades but I thought that Bare It All might be an exception, and for $1.19 USD (regularly $1.99), I feel like you can't really go wrong.

I also got these Wet' n' Wild Natural Blend Lip Shimmers in Sugar (left), Berry (middle), and Spice (right). There were five colors at my Rite Aid, but these three appealed to me the most. I'll probably do a review on these once I've tried them out. I've never seen these before, but they didn't say new on them, so I've probably just been missing them. They were $1.19 USD each with the sale.

Next I picked up a couple of Nivea Lip Butters. I've heard good things about them and I wanted to try them out. Plus they were on sale for two for five dollars, so they were only $2.50 USD each! They both smell super nice.

Lastly, I grabbed an EOS Medicated Lip Balm in tangerine. It smells lovely, and it cost me $3.59 USD. I think it's usually more at Rite Aid, but I have lots of Plenti Points so I saved some money. It's a bit pricey for a lip balm, so I hope it's really good. This is the first time I've ever had my own EOS lip balm, and I've heard mixed reviews, so I hope that I'm one of the ones that likes them!

That's all for today's haul! Let me know if you want swatches or reviews of anything I purchased. I'm planning on doing a swatch and review of the MegaLast lipsticks soon!
