April Declutter 2016

After my birthday I have lots of new makeup, and I've been ordering a lot more as well, so I felt it was time to declutter. I got rid of a good amount this time, probably even more than in my last declutter. Things were piling up and it was getting overwhelming to choose what to use everyday, which is a sign that you have too many things. I also recently got a subscription to Boxycharm, so I'll have new products coming in every month, which means I need to make some space.

I got these a few months ago and I've used one of them once, so I clearly don't need any of them. They'll be going to a friend or family member who can get some proper use out of them.

I used to absolutely love these lipsticks, and I still do because for $2.00 each they're great, but when you have as many lipsticks as me, you tend to reach for what you absolutely love, not what's great for the price. I highly recommend these if you're just starting out with makeup or you don't have the money to buy more expensive lipsticks, but if you already have a few MAC lipsticks or other lipsticks you really like, you may not find yourself reaching for these so much.

I got these as gifts after already not liking them and said I would give them another chance. It's been several months and I have yet to use them, so they're going to a new home.

Here are a few glosses that I don't know the brands of. I don't tend to do glossy reds and I've had the tiny sample for over a year so these need to go.

A family member was kind enough to give me a set of lip product samples a while ago, but I don't use these ones, and she said to pass them along to somebody who will. I just never use any of them, mostly due to color of the type of product they are - for instance, I don't tend to wear tinted balms.

The lip pencil is in a shade I never wear and the lipstick crayon is a bit too nude for my skin color and tone. I could keep it to mix with other things, but I never end up doing that and I don't want it to go to waste.

I have another one of the Burt's Bees lip shimmer and I don't need a second one, I never use the cat lipstick (I kept it for the longest time just because it's cute), and the gloss smells way too sweet to me, so all of these will go to new homes.

I'm tossing the Lip Smacker because there's not much left and it's looking a bit gross, but the rest of these products will go to a friend or family member who wants them.

I love Wet' n' Wild, but I do think their products can be hit and miss, and this eyeshadow palette was sadly a miss for me. Hopefully somebody else will like it more than I did and maybe it will even be a favorite of theirs - I hear great things about Wet' n' Wild eyeshadows, but this specific palette wasn't for me.

These eyeshadows weren't bad, but they weren't great either, and I don't have the time for eyeshadow I don't love anymore because I have so much I really do love. I find that the Santee ones had to be used wet to show up at all and the Essence ones had a lot of fallout.

These eyeshadows are great, but I never use them, so they were just taking up space.

The same goes for this trio - the quality isn't bad at all, but I have so many palettes and other shadows I like more that I never reached for these.

These Revlon Shadow Links aren't terrible, but they certainly aren't great either. They weren't very pigmented when I tried to use them and they blended away pretty easily.

I actually really liked these eyeshadows, but I never used them because the colors didn't wuite work for me. The white and tan didn't show up on my skin and I have so many pinks that I don't need another one.

This eyeshadow trio from ShopMissA was okay, but not great, and I didn't want to bother with something I don't love.

I've had this for a long time now and I never, ever use it anymore so it's time to pass it along. It works perfectly well, but I prefer to use things like the Urban Decay Primer Potion.

I almost never use pencil liners so I got rid of a couple. I've probably had these for way too long so I'll probably end up tossing them.

I didn't need any of these any more so I'm getting rid of them, and they'll mostly go to new homes although a couple of them might get tossed.

These are my absolute favorite mascaras, but both of them were too old to keep using. They smell fine still, but they're definitely past the three month mark so I'm tossing them.

I had some used lashes that needed to be thrown away, so I went ahead and threw them out. I have a ton of lashes, probably a dozen pairs, and I don't even wear lashes very often, so I don't mind getting rid of a couple pairs. I don't buy expensive lashes either so I can throw them out after only a few uses without feeling bad.

I've used a lot of the L'oreal foundation and come to the realization that it just melts off of my face too easily for me to use it willingly. The Rimmel foundation oxidizes within a few minutes, and it oxidizes a lot, so I can't really wear it. I'm passing along the L'oreal foundation and tossing the Rimmel one.

These concealers are just a bit too dark for me and now that I have a concealer palette I don't use other concealers much anyways, so I'm passing these along to somebody who can use them.

This is far too old and has to be thrown away. I got it as a gift years ago and held onto it for no good reason and now it's too old to justify using. I'm not entirely sure you can even buy this anymore.

I never use either of the Bare Minerals products, and the e.l.f. blush is more glitter and shimmer than pigments so it looks really weird on me. Somebody else might get better use out of these items than I did.

These blushes are super pigmented - too pigmented. I can't use them easily and I was hanging onto them to use as eyeshadows but I never ended up doing that so these will be going to somebody who can work with them. They were only a dollar each so if I end up missing them I can just get more.

Makeup Declutter

The First Makeup Declutter Of 2016

I just posted a nail polish declutter, and I wanted to post the results of my makeup declutter as well. I think I did pretty well considering the amount I previously had, and I'm happy with what I decluttered. Most of this is lip products, but there's a few other things as well. I know I still have way too much, especially of lip balm, but I do use most of what I have left and what I don't use I will probably declutter next time.

This just doesn't look good on my skin in the winter, and I have things that work on me in the summer that I like better, so I'm getting rid of this. It's also starting to get near a year old, which means it wouldn't be sanitary anymore. I'll try to find a friend who can use it before it gets old, but if I can't find anyone who wants it, then I'll toss it.

It's painful to toss these eyeliners because I loved them so much, but I honestly just don't use them, and they're way too old to use even if I ever ended up wanting to. These are colorful eyeliners that I used to use a lot, but now I tend to use brightly colored shadows as liner if I want a colors liner, so I don't reach for these. They're getting old, so I'm tossing them.

This quad was only a dollar and I've literally never used it so I'm getting rid of it. Since I think it smells off (despite the fact that I only got it a few months ago) I'm throwing it away.

I got these Milani liners at the Dollar Tree, and oh my God, they stain so bad. I never use them because I hate how bright the stains they leave are and if I use them I have a blue or green line on my eye for two days. I'll give my friends a chance to take them if they want, but otherwise these will go to the trash.

I never use this blush, and it was only a dollar so I can easily replace it if I start to miss it. I doubt I will though, because it's not very good. I'm tossing it because I doubt anyone would want it.

I haven't use this mascara in a while, which is probably for the best because when I looked at it I realized it's nearly a year old. I used to use it on my brows when I had purple hair, but I don't anymore so I have no use for it. Since it's unsanitary to share mascara, I'll be tossing it.

These liners are so old it's embarrassing. They need to be thrown away.

I got all of these at Dollar Tree and all of them smelled off as soon as I got them, so I'm finally tossing them. It's a shame because they're all super pretty, but it doesn't seem safe to use something that smells so bad.

I'm passing these glosses along to a friend because I never use them. They're just nice smelling clear glosses, but I almost never use gloss, so there really isn't a point in keeping them around anymore.

These lip stains are all really pretty, but I just never use them and I think a friend would get better use out of them, so they're leaving my collection. I've only used them a handful of times, and that was only to do a review of them, so I know I probably won't miss them.

I think these were discontinued a while ago, so they're definitely too old to keep or pass along to a friend. It's a shame, because the colors are pretty, but I have enough similar shades that it's not a huge loss.

These glosses are all old and I never use them so there's no point in trying to justify keeping them. They're going to the trash due to their age.

These glow-in-the-dark glosses are both super cool and super old, so they're being tossed. I think I wore one of them to a dance once and it was awesome, but most of the time I'm not wearing makeup in dark places, so there's not a huge point to having them anyways. It's a cool concept, though!

These lipsticks are all being thrown out because they're all mangled from me scraping bits off to mix with other lipsticks in a palette. I can't be bothered to use a lip brush and I doubt any of my friends would want them, so into the trash they go!

These lippies are all in the same situation as the last three. They're also not in colors I would really wear anyways, so I have no problem tossing them.

The first lipstick here is broken, and I have too many similar colors that I like the formulas of more to justify keeping it and using a lip brush. The second one never gets used, and the third one is all mangled for the same reason as the ones in the last two pictures.

I'll be tossing the first and last lip balms because the first one is all melted and gross and the last one is one that I hate with a passion. The two middle ones never get used but they're still good so they'll go to friends.

If anybody is upset that I'm throwing out products that are technically still useable, keep in mind that if I didn't throw them out, it's likely nobody would want them, and then they'd just end up going to waste in my drawer anyways. So it's not any bigger of a waste than it would be anyways, and this way I'm making space for new products that will actually get used. Also keep in mind that although this may still seem like I'm throwing away money, the money is already spent. If I kept the products and didn't use them, it would still be a waste of money, so at least this way I'm not keeping what I see as trash around in my drawers. All the salvageable makeup that I feel isn't too unsanitary will go to new homes (A.K.A my friend's makeup drawers) and be much more loved. Thanks for reading!

Nail Polish Declutter

I was looking at my makeup and nail polish and realized that while I do use a lot of it, there's still plenty I don't use that I could give to someone who would use it more or throw out because it's old. Most of the things I decluttered fall into the "throw out" category, including all of the nail polishes. I've been painting my nails more often, but there's still no need for most of the nail polishes I have, so I decided to toss every single polish that was too old for me to feel comfortable using. Although this leaves me with absolutely no red nail polish, I can easily get more and I honestly rarely ever wear red nails. I decide to post here what I decluttered, and a part two with makeup is coming soon.

Not only were all of these super old, I also never wear pearly or sparkley whites, or pearly or sparkley colors in general, so it was time for them to go.

I never really wear bright pinks either, so I had no problem getting rid of those. These are also all super old.

The rainbow nail polishes were a cute idea, but they never worked on me, so I was generally pretty angry at any rainbow polishes I saw as a kid because if something doesn't work for me then it shouldn't exist because I am the center of the universe, apparently. I also never wear sparkles on my nails so those had to go. Not to mention that some of these are over five years old.

Does anybody else remember the Crackle nail polish? Because I do, and I wish it was still around. If the one you got worked, it looked SO COOL! If you aren't familiar with them, you would put a coat of the Crackle polish over your normal polish and it would create a cool cracked effect. Sometimes they wouldn't work, though, and they only worked if you put them over nail polish and not over your bare nail which used to really tick me off because I was impatient and didn't want to wait for the normal polish AND the Crackle polish to dry.

Man, nail art pens were so cool back when I was, like, ten. They're still pretty cool but I had less patience back then and these seemed to dry fasted than normal polish so I loved them. I was also super new to nail art and the idea of something that made it easier for beginners was fantastic to me.
